German Language Classes – JVHS Berlin

External students with prior knowledge who find it difficult to assess their level should test their standard independently by taking our online-placement test under www.vhs-brb.de/onlinetest/

All German classes follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The school program is divided into 5 levels: A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. The school provides neither a C2-class nor official final exams. On demand we’ll help interested students to register at the Examination office at the Berliner Senat.

Level A1:
Learning of simple structures in written and spoken German for the management of everyday situations (Grammar: syntax; tenses: Präsens, Perfekt; modal verbs; imperative; cases: Nominativ, Akkusativ, Dativ; prepositions, pronouns)
Level A2:
Development of the (in A1) learned structures, more varied possibilities of expression (Grammar: subordinating clauses; infinitives with „zu“; reflexive verbs; tenses: Futur I, Präteritum, Plusquamperfekt; Passiv; declination of adjectives; comparison)
Level B1:
Extension of the (in A1, A2) attained basic knowledge
(Grammar: subjunctive; use of participle I and II as adjectives; two-piece conjunctions; Passiv; verbs with prepositions)
Level B2:
Learning of various language structures, academic language, work with sophisticated texts (Grammar: reported speech / present subjunctive; repetition of grammar structures on a higher level)
Level C1:
Further extension of various language structures, academic language, and preparation for exams (Grammar: repetition of grammar structures on a higher level)

All language courses are being held at the Jüdische Volkshochschule Berlin.
